Members of the Hopewell Valley Veterans Association, Inc. recently held their quarterly meeting at the Hopewell Township municipal building. Through the support of local corporations and citizens, the construction of the “Memorial Walk” is now over ninety percent complete. The Association is now focusing on phase II and III of the project, which consists of constructing a walking trail system, an interpretive museum, and other amenities at the site. Committee members are also beginning to document oral histories of local veterans in Hopewell Valley. Please join the Association for their Memorial Day celebration on May 24 at 10 a.m. at the Alliger Tract, Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, adjoining the Hopewell Township municipal complex. This free event will recognize Valley veterans and include military displays, a rifle salute, benediction, an unveiling of engraved bricks donated in honor of veterans, and complimentary refreshments.
