Fireworks Celebration at Alliger Park

A Night of Appreciation  (Pennington Post):

On Sunday, June 28, the Hopewell Valley Veterans Association will honor our country’s servicemen and women with a patriotic celebration at Alliger Park from 7:30-9:30 pm. The event will feature a 63rd Army Band concert followed by a fireworks display.

Members of the Hopewell Valley Veterans Association would like to thank the following sponsors for contributing to this community event. They include: TD Bank, Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc., Hopewell Valley Community Bank, PNC Bank, Trap Rock Industries Inc., Pennington Quality Market, Wilson-Apple Funeral Home, Hopewell Valley Lacrosse, Pennington United Soccer, Hopewell American Legion Post 339, Hopewell Township Parks and Recreation and Larry and Madeleine Mansier. We appreciate your strong support and dedication to the community.

When the idea was first presented to our association to include a fireworks display in addition to the planned Army Band concert, I was probably the most enthusiastic member in our group. It’s very easy to get excited about fireworks, and I can’t wait to see them in the sky above Alliger Park on Sunday. However, the fireworks display is not what this night is all about, and the display should not outshine the main objective.

This event is meant to be a night of appreciation for members of our military. They will be represented at the park with individuals from the NJ National Guard, the 63rd Army Band, Naval Sea Cadets and local veterans. The celebration is dedicated to these men and women who have made sacrifices for our country. It is also the hope of our organization that the residents of Hopewell Valley will attend this event and continue to support our group’s on-going mission to construct a Veterans Memorial and public park.  So, we ask that you please arrive early for the concert and bring your family for a fun night. If you come by late, just to see the fireworks display, you will be missing out on the heart and soul of this patriotic celebration and our organization’s mission.

In case of inclement weather, the 63rd Army Band concert will relocate to the Hopewell Valley Central High School’s Performing Arts Center.  Please view the local Comcast and Verizon TV channels on Sunday, and HVVA will inform residents if there will be a rain date of Wednesday, July 1 for the fireworks. Residents can picnic at the park, but please no littering and alcohol is strictly prohibited.
